Why should decision-makers engage with this tool?
Users of the application can:
Explore the relevance to any particular nation of four policy ambitions addressing the diverse roles blue foods can (and do) in the food system
Explore how different cut-off values affect how relevant a policy ambition is for one or several nations
Why is this important?
It allows decision-makers to identify nations dealing with similar issues. This can provide a basis for coalitions to tackle these or exchange best practices.
Countries where missing data precludes analysis can focus attention on collection of key statistics that will improve understanding of the role of blue foods can play in a nation.
Policy objectives maps
Here is an interactive view of where each policy objective is relevant.
The sliders are set at the cut-off values informing the analysis in the paper. You can select your own cut-off value and see how the maps change. To return to the default values, press the button at the bottom of the sidebar panel.
Below the maps is a table that provides the same information in table format (useful for smaller countries). Use the download button to download the dataset with the selected cut-offs.
Country Data
Here you can see the data that underlies each policy recommendation. To view a specific country and policy, select them in the drop down lists.
The graphs below show where the country data (black point) is in relation to the thresholds determined in the paper analysis (red lines). The dashed lines represents that the threshold for availability is split between production and imports.
Policies become relevant if the country data exceeds the threshold (black point is to the right of the red line).
